Now where did I put that bar of Soap?? Oh, go VP yourself!
Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You know I have always liked the phase that the Vice president used the other day. I don't say it however, because I am afraid of the impression other people would have of me as I used it.
There are many many times, particularly in the past year or so, while looking for a job, that I would have loved to use the VP phrase. I would especially like to share it with the people who told me point blank in an interview that they would not hire me because I was too qualified. They indicated that after they spent their time training me that I would leave as soon as a better opportunity would come along.
Now they don't know that, because I don't know that. I might grow fond of being able to provide food for my family and pay the rent. I may want to take a break from "Living on the Edge" as we call it here. Maybe I would just go to work for more than a few months, just so that I can remember what it is like to get a paycheck and actually spend time with my family instead of writing resumes and making appointments for rejection.
Anyway my point is, that when one of those interviewers told me no for the 90th time I would have loved to use the phrase that Dick (maybe having that first name desensitizes him somehow to the use of vulgarity)
used on good old Patrick Leahy on the Senate floor.
Dick, Dick, Dick, what were you thinking? Why don't you "Go VP Yourself"?
